The magnificent size of Borobudur

Kotagede is a historic neighbourhood that holds the remains of the first capital of Mataram Sultanate. Along the streets, you see the shadow of the former city’s identity as a strong fort with the surrounding walls. The Royal sights

The Royal family of Yogyakarta are still recognised today with Sultan Hamengkubuwono X currently sitting on the Javanese throne. Across the city are royal moments that can be enjoyed along with your travels in the city. One historical landmark is the Taman Sari Water Castle. Once the bathing house and garden that housed all of the Sultan concubines now it is a beautiful addition to the historical journey of visitors. The surrounding area has a number of places to see some stunning local art, which you can buy.
